I'll Be Waiting

A big eyed woman in a pale blue strapless party dress sitting alone on a long raspberry pink couch with a sequined teal cat mask pushed up on her forehead, framed cat portraits and a gold mirror behind her, a jack o lantern on a side table and a pink mouse purse at her feet. Signed Magpie 2022.

A woman in a pale blue party dress sits alone in the middle of a long raspberry pink couch, hands folded, a sequined teal cat mask pushed up on her forehead. Cats in ruffs and top hats stare from gold frames on the wall, a jack o lantern grins on the side table, and a pink mouse purse waits at her feet. She's in costume. Cat ears on her forehead, purse at her feet, dressed and ready for a party that never came to get her. The portraits on the wall are cats performing their roles perfectly; framed, displayed, doing exactly what's expected. The couch fits five. She's the only one on it. The mirror behind her confirms what she already knows.
